Inspired by The Countryside

The inspiration behind my countryside theme.

Then

Quite simply I have chosen to use the countryside as my inspiration because I live in it and I love it! I was born in the North East, but by age 4 we had moved to a tiny village in Somerset. I've grown up surrounded by fields, farm animals, woodlands and woodland creatures. I've lived in rural villages where amenities stretch to no more than a church, school and small shop, and everyone knows everyone. I've lived on the levels and moors, as well as right next to a dairy farm with all the noises and smells you might imagine! I have fond memories of the cows popping their heads over the hedge into our garden to say hello.

Now

I now live in Somerset's county town with my partner, our two children and dog Fudge. Any chance we get we're out and about with our wellies on. The children are growing up with a mixture of rural town life, countryside and coast, although it's getting a little trickier dragging them off their screens! We are so lucky to have amazing beaches to the north and south (although we do need to sneak into Devon for that). Holidays are spent in Cornwall and Wales, and we certainly consider ourselves very lucky to have all this on our doorstep. I'm no city girl, I'm happy to visit but it's not long until I want to get back to the green fields!

Bye for now

I hope you can see why basing my designs on the countryside seems like a logical choice!

I'd love to know what is your favourite setting - are you at home in the city? Or perhaps you're a country bumpkin like me? Where is your favourite place to visit?

Please take a look at my designs and let me know if there's something I should focus on in new and upcoming pieces.
